Environmental Benefits of LED :::...

Use LED to light up your life and help the fight against Global Warming!

  • According to official US government statistics, power plants in the US produced 2,459,000,000 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) in 2006.

  • Almost 22% of the electricity they generated was used for lighting, 9% of it in homes.

  • Did you know that if every American replaced a regular 60 Watt incandescent light bulb with a 10 Watt LED bulb, we could prevent over 17.1 Million tons of CO2 from being emitted every year?

  • LED’s contain NO MERCURY.

  • Almost 50% of electricity in the US is produced from coal fired power plants. Other then CO2, these power plants also emit mercury, nitrous oxides, sulphur oxides and particulates.

  • Using LED means using less electricity. This translates to less of these substances contaminating our environment and less coming in contact with us.

  • LED’s last at least 60 to 80 times longer than incandescent and 10 times longer than fluorescent lights. This translates to less waste and more money in your pocket.

  • Unlike other light sources LED’s don’t waste energy as heat. This translates to money saved on air conditioning.

All statistics are derived from publicly available data from the Energy Information Agency, the source for official energy statistics from the US government.
